Up World – I've SEEN this! Should I spoil the memory?

Up World – Casey’s a cop.  Gnorm’s a gnome. Together, they’re the long and short arm of the law.

This is a story about a girl, a guy and a gnome called Gnorm.

Gnorm and Casey want to nail the bad guys.  One because his tribe could be wiped out. And the other because his job depends on it. It’ll make you laugh. It’ll make you cry. It’s magical. But it sure as hell ain’t no fairytale.

I was going to say; "OK, I admit it, this isn't a classic cover..." but then I remembered my reaction when I came across it.  I smiled.  You see I've seen this film - and from what I remember it is REALLY good (in a bad sort of way).  Seeing the cover reminded me of the film, and remembering the film made me smile.  Of course I haven't sat down and watched the film again yet, that's a sure fire way to destroy happy memories, but you know what I mean right? It's a bit like when you're in HMV or somewhere and you walk past the kids section and see He-Man or Dogtanion or The Raccoons - you smile.  The downside of course comes when you sit down and watch them.  I call this the Fall Guy effect.

The Fall Guy effect:

The Fall Guy was a TV show from the early 80's starring Lee Majors as a stuntman who is also a bounty hunter. It was must-see TV for anyone of about my age, along with the Dukes of Hazzard and Knightrider, Streethawk, Mannimal etc.  One of the free digital channels started showing the Fall Guy again late last year and the sense of anticipation was immense.  I watched the first half of the first episode...then just kinda wandered off.  It's not that it wasn't as good as I remembered it, I just realised I didn't remember it all that well!

OK, back to Up World. The blurb is pretty good, if a little brief, but I'd change the following:

Gnorm and Casey want to nail the bad guys.  One because his tribe could be wiped out. And the other because his job depends on it.

to:

Gnorm and Casey want to nail the bad guys.  Gnorm because his tribe could be wiped out. Casey because his job as a cop depends on it.

On the subject of brief blurbs, which would make you more likely to take this film home - the one above or this one: 

"Gnorm is just an average Gnome. But he wants to impress the lady Gnomes by doing something heroic. So he steals the Gnome's magic stones to expose them to sunlight to recharge them. When he gets to the surface, (Gnome's live deep underground) he witnesses a murder, and the killer ends up with his stones. Detective Casey, who was working a sting operation with the murdered man, (another detective) is blamed for botching the sting, and causing the death. Wanting to catch the killer to clear his name, he teams up with Gnorm, who he accidentally discovers. He is going to need Samantha's help, but she thinks he is a nut. Small quibbles aside though - happy memories!
